In Sickness and In Health

Ugh. I was completely out of commission for 24 hours with some pesky stomach bug.

And there was my husband. Buying me soup and frozen fruit bars. Keeping me hydrated with Gatorade and water. Holding back my hair when I was, uh, you know. When he wasn't doting over me, he was weed-whacking our yard and babysitting our dog.

When I come across propaganda from the Wedding Industrial Complex that argues that weddings are The Biggest Day in our lives, I laugh at the absurdity. A marriage isn't about one big, expensive day. It's about all the little days. The day in and the day out.

Marriage is all about finding that one person who will hold your hair when you have to, you know, after getting a stomach bug.

I had this same thing last week, and I found myself thinking the same thing.

It's amazing to have someone rub your head, feed you soup and just love you like that even when you're disgusting and a mess.

Glad you're feeling better!

Wait until you're pregnant! There are a whole lot of fun things husbands are great for. :)
