Things to Think About (Other Than Weddings)

Dinner Parties.

I'm convinced that part of the stress of wedding planning comes from the feeling that it's a once in a lifetime (knock on wood) event. There's more pressure to get it right.

And in a lot of people's lives, bringing together massive amounts of your friends and family and throwing a damn good party probably is a once-in-a-lifetime event. How sad!

I think wedding planning would be less stressful and the world would be a better place if we brought together our friends and family (and neighbors) and threw damn good parties more often.

This Thursday, for example, Matt and I are hosting a potluck for our neighborhood. It will be a simple affair with board games and a deliciously eclectic menu (hooray for potlucks!). Maybe I'll make real macaroni and cheese...

And then I read about Jordyn's birthday party for a friend on the middle of a pier (you can read all about it on Oh Happy Day).

Now that's what I'm talking about. Original and meaningful parties to commemorate friendship and life! How inspiring.

Agreed. The tough part about weddings is it's like every dinner party we've ever had rolled into one. We DO throw dinner parties, we're old school like that, but we normally don't invite all our friends and family at once!
