The Iowa supreme court just ruled that a 1998 law limiting marriage to a man and a woman was unconstitutional because it violates the equal protection clause of the Iowa state constitution. The Supreme Court said same-sex marriages could begin in Iowa in as soon as 21 days.
Hooray for equal rights for all people! Hooray for equal freedom for all people to decide whom to love, honor, and commit to.

Hooray! I just moved to Iowa four months ago and I'm still getting used to life outside of the "big city" (Chicago.)
But what a wonderful feeling to live in Iowa today! Thanks for posting this!
Hopefully other states will follow suit. :)
Wow ... strange days indeed when Iowa is more progressive than California.
Hooray for people finally coming to their senses!
I swear to god if they pull that voting crap like ca....I'm going to stop the angry range before I say bad words.
And if you want to see the funniest thing ever to do with Prop 8: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/c0cf508ff8/prop-8-the-musical-starring-jack-black-john-c-reilly-and-many-more-from-fod-team-jack-black-craig-robinson-john-c-reilly-and-rashida-jones
Funny yet oh so obvious. Well, to some people.
Hooray!
I am so proud of where I live. My boyfriend and I were just talking about this issue two hours ago. Go Iowa!
@ unbride: The difference between California and Iowa is that California went to a direct vote, Iowa was settled by impartial judges. I am an Iowan, and I wouldn't bet on the same result by direct vote here.
But hooray for impartial judges!!!
Proud to be an Iowan today, Thanks for posting this :)
gave me goosebumps...
i love.
YAY!!!
Those judges were recalled because of their decision. Republican traditionalist judges replaced them. It was seen that they took the law into their own hands. HELLO, they are judges.
